Open auditions for children ages 8-18 for both plays are at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, in the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building on the 麻豆传媒 campus in Cottleville. A parent must be present during the audition process. For 鈥淭he Creepy Creeps of Pilgrim Road,鈥 auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. For 鈥淲hite Christmas,鈥 participants must prepare 16 measures of a 鈥淲hite Christmas鈥 song and bring music accompaniment, tap shoes and/or dance shoes. If auditioning for a solo, the song performed must be 鈥淲hite Christmas.鈥
鈥淭he Creepy Creeps of Pilgrim Road,鈥 based on the book by Tim Kelly, with music and lyrics by David Reiser, features a charming though unusual family, living in a dilapidated mansion in Edible Falls. Heading the home is Sinbad and his captivating spouse, Tarantula. Unfortunately their home is in an exclusive and snobby neighborhood dominated by a group of people who are certain the Creeps are ruining Pilgrim Road's chance to win the yearly All American Street Contest, which they have lost every year. The neighborhood's self appointed leader makes it her mission to force the family out of Pilgrim Road at any cost. This results in a comical misadventure spiced up with lots of strange characters and full of show-stopping musical numbers that will entertain the whole family.
鈥淭he Creepy Creeps of Pilgrim Road鈥 will be performed in the theater of the Fine Arts Building at 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Oct. 19-20, and 2 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 20-21.
鈥淲hite Christmas,鈥 based on the beloved, timeless film, is a heartwarming musical featuring 17 well-known Irving Berlin standards, such as 鈥淏lue Skies,鈥 鈥淚 Love a Piano,鈥 鈥淗ow Deep Is the Ocean,鈥 and of course, 鈥淲hite Christmas.鈥 After World War II, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis relentlessly pursue a busy and highly successful song and dance career. Their lives change completely when they meet and follow two sisters to Vermont for the holidays. This romantic and uplifting musical comedy is fun for the whole family. Celebrate the holidays with wonderful songs and dancing, and relive this traditional favorite.
鈥淲hite Christmas鈥 will be performed in the theater of the Fine Arts Building at 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Dec. 14-15, and 2 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 15-16.
