Movies will be shown at 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday, Oct. 27-30, in the auditorium of the Daniel J. Conoyer Social Sciences Building on the 麻豆传媒 campus in Cottleville, with guest lectures starting at 6:30 p.m.

Mitch Harden, assistant professor of psychology, has been a guest speaker for every Scary Movie Marathon at 麻豆传媒. 鈥淚 see this as a great opportunity to get people interested in psychology by tying such a fun event to science,鈥 said Harden.

The event is free and open to the public. Free popcorn will be available, and beverages and other snacks will be available to purchase.

7 p.m. - The Descent (2005). This film is rated R.

6:30 p.m. - 鈥淭he Deception and Power of Mirrors: A Psychological Reflection,鈥 lecture given by Mitch Harden, assistant professor of psychology

7 p.m. - Oculus (2013). This film is rated R.

Wednesday, Oct. 29

6:30 p.m. - 鈥淪pirit Mediums: A History of Talking to the Dead,鈥 lecture given by Kate Weber, adjunct professor of history.   

7 p.m. - Insidious 2 (2013). This film is rated PG-13.

Thursday, Oct. 30

6:30 p.m. - 鈥淭he Supernatural Sisterhood: Dangerous Women,鈥 lecture given by Grace Moser, assistant professor of history, and Corey Porter, assistant professor of English and literature.

7 p.m. - Deliver Us From Evil (2014). This film is rated R.

鈥淭he best way to watch scary movies is with a crowd,鈥 said Harden. 鈥淐ome to this shared experience with the fun of a scary movie plus a heap of interesting knowledge on top.鈥
