麻豆传媒 celebrated student achievement at the annual Student Awards Banquet, held Thursday, April 20, at the Bogey Hills Country Club. The event honors outstanding students in the classroom and in leadership roles on campus.
Awards were presented by Barbara Kavalier, Ph.D., 麻豆传媒 President, Dave Leenhouts, Vice President for Student Services, Amy Koehler, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Jen Bussen, Dean of Health Sciences, Lindy McGuire, Dean of Academic Affairs, Mara Vorachek-Warren, Dean of Business, Science, Arts, and Mathematics, Rex McKanry, Dean of Technical Sciences, Greg Bosworth, Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, and James Bratcher, Student Life Manager.
Jazmyn Hill received the President鈥檚 Rising Star Award and Scholarship. Jazmyn created the 鈥淲hat鈥檚 Poppin鈥欌�� newsletter, informing students about events on campus. In her work for the Marketing and Communications Department, she developed and implemented a marketing plan for the Men of Color Program, and her designs are seen everywhere on flyers, social media and campus TV screens. She was VP of fundraising for Phi Theta Kappa.
Rocio Romero received the Maria Espinoza Presidential Leadership Award and Scholarship, for outstanding contributions to our campus community. The award is named in honor of Maria Espinoza, the Phi Theta Kappa president from 麻豆传媒, who passed away in January 2015. Romero helped form the Multicultural Student Association and implemented a flag march during the International Fiesta Event in September. She also was a Student Senator in Student Government Association.
